The 300 Australia Defence Force personnel who received training over the weekend are now on the ground in southwest and Western Sydney to assist New South Wales police in enforcing compliance with the public health orders. Most of them are stationed in the eight LGAs of concern and are going door to door to help police ensure people are isolating when they should be. From today police will also be cracking down on compliance in major retail outlets and supermarkets when it comes to mask-wearing and QR code check-ins. Individuals who do not check-in with the QR code could be fined $1,000 while the fine for businesses who do not comply with the system is $5,000. There have also been reports the navy will step in to assist NSW Health with contact tracing.
