Sky News host Alan Jones has spoken to Australian Olympic greats Marlene Mathews and Grant Hackett – reflecting on their experiences and achievements at past Olympics. “If you haven’t heard of Marlene Mathews, you should have, one of the unluckiest athletes in world track and field,” Mr Jones said. “The only woman in track and field history to hold the world record, they were yards in Marlene’s day, in the 100, 220 and 440 yards. “And then Grant Hackett. Gold Medallist in the 1500 in Sydney and again in Athens. Definitely one of the greatest distance swimmers of all time. “He dominated the 1500 for ten years, undefeated in any final from 1996 to 2007.” Mr Jones spoke with both Mr Hackett and Ms Matthews on their achievements.
