In an international context Australia’s hotel quarantine system has worked “exceptionally well,” according to The Advertiser’s Caleb Bond. “No system ever is going to be completely foolproof,” Mr Bond told Sky News host Peter Gleeson. Mr Bond said the outbreaks we have had from “hundreds of thousands” of people who have come back to Australia through hotel quarantine have been “very few, perhaps a dozen to two dozen”. “I talk about this in the context of the rest of the world where overseas in the UK where they’re racking up tens of thousands of cases a day and we get a few cases that come out of hotel quarantine and we go ‘woe is me the whole system has failed’,” he said. “In an international context this system has worked exceptionally well.”
