Former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has given instructions from his prison cell for real estate agents to sell one of his investment apartments.

Hayne, who is currently appealing his sexual assault conviction, bought two apartments off the plan in Parramatta, in Sydney’s west, in 2013 when he was still with the Parramatta Eels.

The apartments cost $600,000 and $605,000 respectively.

He’s now selling the level 17 dual key apartment which comes with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Laing + Simmons Parramatta agents Ray Fayad and Peter Younan are seeking $670,000. The building was completed in 2015 by Merfad Capital. Hayne amassed an impressive property portfolio as he rose through the ranks of the NRL, but now only has the two Parramatta apartments and a cottage at Umina Beach on the Central Coast occupied by his mother.

He had investment houses in Paddington and Darlinghurst, in Sydney’s elite eastern suburbs, that were sold for $2.85m in 2017 and $2.15 m in 2019.

His first Sydney home purchase at St Peters, in the inner west, sold for $995,000 in 2015 as he made the move to the US to pursue a career in the NFL, having paid $527,500 in 2007, when the 19-year-old winger was the second youngest footballer to play for NSW.

In May, Hayne was found guilty of sexual assault and was jailed for five years and nine months, and a non-parole period of three years and eight months. His appeal will be heard in November.
