Joe Biden goes after Facebook for not ‘curbing misinformation’ on the vaccine
The United States is experiencing a rise in COVID-19 cases and President Joe Biden has gone after tech giant Facebook for not doing enough to “curb misinformation,” according to Sky News contributor Michael Ware. “The president said of the large social media platforms that they’re killing people – that’s the president’s words – because he says that these platforms have not done enough to curb misinformation,” he told Sky News. “Facebook was very quick to respond and issued a statement and said don’t blame us, a social media platform, if you haven’t reached your national vaccination goals.” Mr Ware also said Facebook accused US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy of “telling them one thing privately and then criticising them publicly”. “Despite the success of the previous administration’s partnership with free enterprise to develop these vaccines, this administration is now really hitting the hard wall of not just vaccine hesitancy but vaccine resistance,” Mr Ware said.
