Former adviser to Tony Blair, John McTernan says he can’t understand why the Morrison government “couldn’t do the basic thing” of protecting citizens, by buying enough vaccines, soon enough. “The biggest thing that Boris Johnson’s done for the UK is get vaccination right – to invest early, to buy early to be able to rollout vaccination quickly,” Mr McTernan told Sky News. “As someone who loves Australia, looking from here, I can’t understand why the federal government couldn’t do the basic thing of protecting citizens by buying enough vaccines, soon enough. “The government should have our backs and that’s the one thing in the UK, through the vaccination program, everyone knows Boris Johnson has had our backs.”
