Officers’ stop and search powers have been temporarily boosted after a Section 60 order was authorised for a large part of the north London borough.

The temporary measure drops the requirement for officers to ‘reasonably’ suspect someone of a crime before undertaking a stop and search.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘A man was found with a gunshot injury and taken to hospital.

‘A man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken into custody.
