, Scott Morrison: Sydney’s lockdown ‘has to work’, The Nzuchi Times

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says Greater Sydney’s lockdown “has to work” amid a shift in lockdown politics from the federal government. Mr Morrison had previously praised NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian for not plunging the state into lockdown sooner but in recent days he has firmed up a pro-lockdown approach. The prime minister has also revealed he is confident lockdowns could largely be a thing of the past by Christmas time as the nation’s vaccination rate increases. However, Deputy Labor leader Richard Marles told Sky News Australia he does not take any timeline the prime minister presents “with any seriousness at all”. “This is the man who has been heroic in terms of the timetables and the goals that he has set himself and Australia but he has consistently failed to meet every one of them,” he said.
