NSW Labor leader Chris Minns says his job as new leader will be to unite the party which he believes will have a big role to play in NSW politics – pitching to NSW voters with a hope of winning the 2023 state election. “My job now is to unite the team, focus on the future and look I’m not going to hurl mud at David Elliot, I think Labor has a big role to play in NSW politics,” Mr Minns said. “We want to debate about the future of this state and that’s my job as the new Labor leader. Mr Minns said he regarded his counterpart premier Berejiklian as a “formidable” opponent. “She’s very formidable I appreciate that. “At the end of the day the voters are in charge of elections they make the decision about who they want governing the state and the country and we owe them everything and they owe us nothing. “My job is to make a pitch to them before March 2023 it’s going to be a difficult task I appreciate that but in politics – anything can happen.”
