A woman has been slashed with a knife during an alleged violent encounter on the Gold Coast on Wednesday.
Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at a department store in the Robina Town Centre about 9.30am.
A Queensland Police spokesman said preliminary investigations suggested a woman approached the women’s-wear section in the store armed with a knife.
A female employee, 32, told the woman that she would not be long.
It is alleged the woman removed a knife from her handbag and moved around the counter, slashing the employee across the hand.
She is then alleged to have fled the shopping centre, running through the food court.
The employee was taken to Robina Hospital in a stable condition.
Police are patrolling the area and investigations continue.
